Engineering judgement close to the work

Mirtilo IO is an independent software engineering practice based in Portugal. I bring more than 15 years of experience designing, building and modernising enterprise software.

My work follows three connected concerns: make architecture easier to reason about, turn decisions into maintainable software, and make quality and release work visible. The public portfolio shows those concerns in products I built and documented myself.

How I work

Make the next technical decision clearer

I map the relevant system paths, state the constraints, compare options and leave a decision that a team can explain and revisit.

Stay close to implementation

I work hands-on with backend services, APIs, integrations, Rails and TypeScript. A plan is useful only when it can become code, tests, documentation and a release path.

Treat quality as part of the product

Tests, CI/CD, accessibility, security boundaries and release evidence belong beside the feature. AI can accelerate exploration and implementation; decisions, review, validation and responsibility for the release remain mine.

Public evidence and confidential work

Formatloom and Max Bid are public products. Their live interfaces and published technical notes show constraints, architecture decisions, implementation boundaries, tests and deployment decisions. Their source repositories are private.

The experience timeline describes professional work without exposing employer-confidential details. Public projects are not presented as proof of client outcomes, revenue, high-scale incident history or advanced observability. Those claims require project-specific evidence.
